CASHLESS HOSPITALISATION FACILITY TO INDIVIDUAL INSURED
Date : 20/08/2010
Discription :

From  July 1,2010, at least 18 insurance companies, including four public sector insurance providers, suddenly withdrew cashless facilities for individual policy holders  from about 3000 hospitals pan-india. The reason being given by this step is that the insurance companies are making heavy losses. The insurance companies took this step without informing the service availers under the pretext “ this is intended to discipline the hospitals who are over charging the consumers.”

The above mentioned step was taken by the insurance companies without taking cognizance of the problems that would be faced by the consumers by their illegal action because the insurance companies have already charged  for providing the cashless facility over and above the premium from the consumers. The consumers are in  a state of shock and feel  themselves as guinea pigs in the hand of insurance companies.

It is reported that cashless hospitalisation  facility has been restored probably in all the hospitals as an interim measure for all insurance policy holders pending resolution of impasse on rates to be charged by different category of hospitals.
