Maharashtra  State Consumer Disputes  Redressal  Commission has ruled that it is the treating doctor not the insurer, who can decide whether  a case requires emergency medical treatment or not. An insurance company’s officials are not expected  to decide whether a particular medical case is an emergency or not.
