DENGUE VACCINE - MAY BE AVAILABLE VERY SOON

Discription :
A vaccine being developed to protect against the dengue virus is going under trial studies in Cebu city (Manilla). The vaccine provides temporary immunity and is not meant to achieve permanent immunity against the dengue virus. In case the vaccine is efective, it can only provide temporary immunity of over a year against the active infections strain.
Inviragen has already developed DENVax vaccine, which is a four way mixture of three engineered viruses and original DEN-2 strain. Initial trials of its subcutaneous or intradermal use has proved its efficacy against all the four serotypes of dengue virus. Now inviragen in association with pharmaget is developing needle free and easy to administer DENVax vaccine. |
